When I spoke to the woman at CCCS, I asked her if having your credit report reflect that you used CCCS was pretty bad. She stated she didn't think so, and asked why I thought that. I told her that some posts I read in various newsgroups had stated that, and some had stated that it was almost as bad as bankruptcy. She was quite shocked and said she had never heard that, and that one of her (customers? clients? ) people had just successfully applied for a new car loan.

Of course, I asked if the person had gotten the loan at 22% or more, and was told no, that she had gotten the standard rate.

So, I guess it's probably viewed as an indicator that a person may have gotten in over his/her head, but I don't think it would be viewed as badly as a person who declared bankruptcy.
