When I was new in the program I attended a beginner's meeting which discussed the 1st three steps. Apparently other people have a little trouble with them <g>. (I attended it for several years, so what does that tell you about me.) One idea shared in that meeting regarding the 2nd step helped me immensely. The person compared HP of the program to electricity. He said he didn't understand all the scientific stuff or even the technical stuff about electricity but he could still turn on a light switch at home and use it. I learned to stop trying to "figure" things out and to just try things out "just for today." For me once I got that part of it step 3 was easier. As someone previously posted when I decided I wanted to get better I realized I had made a start on step 3. Also previously mentioned, my first sponsor told me this is a process. I've been working the steps for several years now and its still a process. I too have trouble with other peoples' concepts of God or HP and am grateful that the program allows the flexibilty of God as I understand God.
