When I was younger, someone said to me that "Life Insurance is a bet against yourself, and your not around to collect it if you win". I always used my benefits packages to supply my life insurance (typically two to three years salary) and never bought a separate policy.

Now that I am retired, my children are grown and do not need any death prizes from me. Buying a new life insurance policy for anyone over 70 is absurd.
