When one is attending a wedding in a Lutheran church, one should not be surprised when it turns out to be a Lutheran wedding. In my view, this is not at all the same thing as a refusal or inability to recognize the existence of other religions. I am a non-Christian and I would not have been either offended or uncomfortable.

I think when a Lutheran minister in a Lutheran church asks the couples who are INTERESTED, to join in a VOLUNTARY vow renewal, it should be perfectly obvious the ensuing vows will be Lutheran vows, including the name of Jesus and other Christian references. It is just amazing to me that you have chosen to label this "rude."

Maybe we should all stop looking so hard for things to get bent out of shape about...
