the tough run begging to the US government...

Tip of the hat to AjaxofTelamon for his post about privatizing Social Security.

Isn't this blindingly obvious? That when the sh!t hits the fan, people, rich and poor, turn hopefully to the federal government.

The stock market reels and sags until the rumor is passed... "The government is going to step in." and then HOORAY!!! GLORY BE! big rally.

The much maligned government is going to try and pull our imprudent ass out of the fire. Maybe it's not yet time to drown it in the bathtub.

Make no mistake, we are witnessing the results of the greatest governmental f'up in generations. Our politicians and the financial CEOs should simultaneously commit seppuku.

But can we drop this stupid meme that government is the problem?

Bad government, government that conspires with private enterprise to enrich the top one percent is the problem.

Good government, government in the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt and FDR, is the solution.

Peter
