When we purchased our home (new house), the range, ovens, and dishwasher were included. We simply had to pick them from the builders 'catalog'.

We did purchase our refrigerator and washer-dryer.

I found that it was very difficult to comparison shop. Much the same effect as mattress shopping - all the stores had different models from the same companies.

We had to look at all of the options and finally try to compare apples to apples.

I found that the Great Indoors was highly overpriced. We finally bought from Circuit City as they had a deal that included free delivery that made them a better deal.

I'd also avoid the extended warranties...it is basically a bet you make - you're betting that the machine will break and trying to cover yourself. Rather - read up on different brands and buy the ones that have the best track record.
