While I agree with Pixy, it has me thinking.

Although it is still premature to do a 4 year analysis (one more year to go), it would be interesting to see a hypothetical.

For example, 10k at 12/31/98; S&P 500 returns for 99, 00, 01; 28% fed bracket (ignore state).
1. Assume conversion in 98, tax over 4 years
2. Assume hold, then convert in 1/1/2002

Only the crystal ball knows what's in store for '01!
