While it's nice to have the work done and the form all neat and tidy, if the numbers are that important to you at this point in
time, a few minutes work should give you a reasonable estimate of where you are.

"You know how much you're contributing, right? And you know where the contributions are going, right? And you know where you were at the end of the last statement, right? And you can get a quote and project about where you are, right?"

I wish it were that easy. I know that my 401(k) is invested in "Equities", but we aren't told anything beyond that. My choices are Equities, Fixed income and Balanced, and I can elect a percentage of each (in 10% increments).

"I don't mean to make light of it, but when you say you're going to talk to your boss and "pitch a fit" (paraphrase), well, I don't know how hard you pitch, and I don't know how big a fit you're thinking of, and, of course, I don't know your boss."

We are also friends. We play golf and poker together (and he generally loses at both).

"Unless I am him, in which case I'll not be amused, "

Chances are, you have a better swing.

Howard.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Tim
