Whoops! left out half the answer. Provided one of you has EARNED income, each of you may setup IRA's and/or Roth IRA's at any time. You can each make a contribution of up to $2000 in total for 1999 so long as it is made before April 17th 2000. You can also make your year 2000 contributions any time before April 15th 2001. Remember if either of you has multiple IRA's yhat you may not exceed the the $2000 for all the IRA's in any one tax year, but you may distribute the $2000 between your IRA's any way you wish. Good Luck' Matthew
