Actually, I don't have a premise to prove. Nor did I set out to prove anything one way or the other. What I set out to do was to compare two different strategies on the same set of numbers -- the actual historical price data of the S&P500 since inception -- and then compare the outcomes.

To satisfy my own curiosity, because I kept hearing claims about how IULs were a great investment. The claims seemed questionable, but reasonable enough to be worth the effort to check out.
I almost always do this when I hear about a potentially lucrative investment strategy--when I can dig up the pertinent data.
