Or subtitled, my weekend of call.Prime example was the last surgical patient I dealt with last night. Brief history: 43 year old, hypertensive, insulin dependent diabetic, with acute renal failure, and morbidly obese. Oh, forgot one minor detail, totally noncompliant with all medical care and off all medications for at least the past 4 months. Really? So how is Obamacare involved? Well, when she is discharged from the hospital (assuming she doesn't die, a very good possibility) she will "bounce back" with some complication. At that point, it is obviously the hospital's and physician's fault, and they won't get reimbursed. Hey, free care! What happens to the patient? No repercussions under Obamacare. Where is the personal responsibility?Do this enough times (and it won't take many patients) and all the profits are quickly burned through and places/people start closing shop. So I guess in a way Obamacare will succeed in making healthcare universal for all Americans. In that there will universally be NO healthcare. The upside of my weekend, got to take care of a really nice couple during an pseudo emergency c-section. She happens to be a surgeon I work with. End result healthy, happy baby and mother.JLC
