Hi all,First time post to this board and a cursory review of previous posts didn't reveal the "answer" to my question...Just finished having someone prepare our 2001 tax return and we owe just over $2500. This is not good news. The particulars:Married (filed joint return)2 kids (10 & 7)No income from stocks etc.Idiot boy (me) claims 2 exemptions, she claims 0IB nets @ 83K while she nets @ 60KAGI of 129.5K (Along with SunTrust, we "own" our houseI have the MF 2002 Tax Guide and to paraphrase, "The question of whether to file joint or single is too complex to answer--you need to run the numbers." Not terribly helpful IMHO. But then again, we're paying $2500 plus instead of breaking even or getting a refund, so who am I to criticize? What I need is advice on how to not be here next year with the same complaint. Beyond the obvious of reducing IB's exemptions to 0, what advice does Fooldom have to offer? Thanks in advance.--Jake
