Wow, speaking of basic math!! You guys are both wrong, but Fleg is way off and wrong.

If you have 160,000 troops and 2112 of them die, what is the death rate?

Answer: 2112/160000 = .0132, = 1.32%.

How many of them die per year?

Answer: .0132 / 2.5 years = .00528.

What does that mean per 100,000?

Answer: .00528 * 100,000 = 528 per 100,000 per year.

528 / 80 = 6.6 times more likely to die in Iraq.

Cmon, Fleg.
