www.andrewtobias.com is a daily general financial column
that I have found helpful over the years. The columns are
archived on the site. I don't remember anything specifically
about 403b plans but the site has helped me tremendously in
planning for my retirement.
I have my own 403b with Fidelity. It was one of the choices
originally offered by my employer. I have had it over 15 years.
There is a $20 yearly maintence fee. I am currently in the money
market option, given the volatility of the market and since I am very close to retirement. The customer service on the other end of the
phone has always been very helpful and they answer your questions
and don't try to sell you anything. You manage your own money.
Many of my co-workers don't like this approach and want someone
to hold their hand. Unfortunately this hand-holding comes with
a price, a usually large commission.
I am new to this board, so I don't know all the discussions that
have taken place, but I hope this has been helpful.
