Xbox freezes during play on all games. Can anything be done?

The opposite actually - sounds like heat trouble. Sounds like it's had heat issues in the past and whatever part it was inside that melts is starting to go. If you can give it better ventilation, that should help if it's not already too far gone - give it a foot of space on every side and away from any other hot components (like receiver/amplifier or DVR/cable box), etc.

Does it freeze when playing XBLA games or demos (i.e., when the DVD drive isn't in use), or just when playing a game on disc?
