Yea for you, and good luck. How old is child or children? That makes a big difference to food budget.

Invest in a crockpot for easy, healthy cooking.

Buy for a week at a time.

Count how many meals you will be home/cooking for. A chicken can easily go for two meals...

Always have milk, eggs, fruit, easy veggies, peanut butter, cheese, cereal, bread, rice or pasta on hand no matter what.

For little kids, when life is hectic or you don't have fixings for a real meal, "breakfast in the evening" is exciting and fun.

I'm a firm believer in 5 ingredients or less style of cooking! However, as DH worked for lifestyle/food firms including Sunset/Southern Living and Betty Crocker I had some other styles too.
Lots of easy recipes but this is getting too long.

Where so you live? How old are the kids? What food do you like yourself?

This board is GREAT for helpful ideas.
