Yeah, I like having to balance weapon weight vs. recharge time. To carry the Claymore, I switched out my assault rifle for a SMG, which still gives me a recharge boost, but not by much (I took the skill tree entry that increases weight capacity also.)

Ditching the backup weapon in favor of recharge rate is a good idea, and I'm going to try that. I rarely switch to the SMG anyway. I haven't gotten to the point where I have many shotgun options right now - I think I just have the Scimitar, the Claymore and whatever I started with. I'll re-evaluate the Claymore once I find something new since it would be nice to have an extra shot without sacrificing too much power.
