Yelp was charged with offering to remove negative reviews in exchange for buying advertisements."

I am not at all surprised. I will be moving in a few months to another state and did research on yelp to find my next hair salon. I found someone who had five stars. This would be nearly impossible and there's always someone whose not happy. And, this salon charges the most money too.
I stayed at an Inn in the town that we will most likely relocate to.
I got an e-mail a few days later stating that if I gave them at least a 4 star review, they would give me one free night at the Inn. I gave them their 4 stars and got a free night worth $209.
I felt that their request was deceptive but they were very nice when I stayed there and we were pretty happy all around.
