Yep, the Prado is the must-see that I can remember. I kind of zipped through Madrid a few years ago. Toledo was outstanding and is less than an hour's drive away. I also fondly remember the drive through the mountains (northeast?) and Segovia--and the Aqueducto Romano. Gorgeous! The walled city of Ronda and the surrounding area is great but not too close to Madrid, I think.A kinda demented tip is to read Michener's "Iberia"--or at least parts of it--before or during the trip. The man is/was long-winded but the history, especially of Toledo and the Prado to an extent, is fascinating.Papitas!-- stuck in DC for August.
