yes, there is a "recovery partition" and that's what I booted to when I did the "command or option-R" which enabled me to get to the Recovery partition with its options for "help- support/re-download ML, or recover all files from Time Machine" - I didn't want to choose any of the preceding options because that would require a whole new installation etc...instead I chose to Repair/verify everything on the HD from the Recovery option.

Prior to doing that, I also chose the Disk Utility and the verify HD etc....from the original HD however, the "repair" (only "verify") option was not available until I actually booted using the command/option-R option on the HD. Remember selecting DU showed NO problems on the HD. The only way I saw the ACLs mentioned was doing the "command/option-R" reboot.

When using the SD clone I was able to at least boot up and do my work. I did the Disk utility from there also, but until selecting the "Recovery"option which took me again to the same DU, i didn't see those ACLs. Very confusing to me too as from what I've researched the ACL in the verify or repair HD option are not supposed to really impact anything.

Am hoping someone here can further explain all this to me/us....
