Yes, you can trade individual stocks in a Roth IRA, but you pay the taxes yearly. Sorry, but the bold part above is just plain wrong. You do not pay any taxes on transactions inside your IRA - either traditional or Roth. IRA's are tax deferred (or in the case of qualified Roth withdrawls, tax exempt) ways to invest for retirement.--Peter
