You are doing the right thing in my opinion.

A co-worker of mine likes to track the retirement and deaths of retired employees from our company. His data shows that for those that retire at 65 or later, the average life expectancy is less than 1 year after retirement (age 66). Those that retire early tend to live well into their 70's.
