You are not alone. Many of us lost a lot in the "down turn". Mostly due to our own panic, selling out when we should not have. Those who did not sell are probably almost back to where they were before the crash.

But what to do now? You do not say how you are currently invested. CD's and Bonds are giving paltry interest rates.

You may want to look at stocks that give dividends that can supply you with some income. If you are just getting back in the equity market right now, you are getting in when the stocks have all gone up. Choose carefully.
