You haven't really said what you're interested in.

Travel, personal finance and writing, in that order.

One option is to keep your current job;but also do a new job part time.
Make the commitment,even if it will wear you down in the short term.

I'm leery of this because one of the main factors in my dissatisfaction is that I want more time to stuff I like, like travel.

You may find the new job direction isn't so great after all.

You're definitely right about that which is why I'm hesitant to make a leap.
