That is correct. You do not understand taxes. Please hire a professional to file for you.

Rael was understanding how the tax brackets work. When you move into a higher tax bracket, only the income above the bracket cutoff is taxed at the higher rate. All of the income below is still taxed at their marginal rates. Therefore, the earlier post that said moving to a higher bracket would result in thousands of additional tax is wrong. If you are $1 into the next higher bracket, that $1 will result in a few extra pennies in taxes. It will not result in thousands of dollar of additional tax.
