No way can we keep driving all the motor vehicles that we drive and not use up all the oil eventually. It may take a hundred more years but eventually the Earth will run out of petroleum. It can't be an infinite resource.

At the beginning of the century the cost was something like $8/watt. Now it is down around a buck. It doesn't have to get a whole lot lower before it becomes practical for most applications. We're already moving towards electric cars.
