You might casually give him a copy of John Bogle's Common Sense on Mutual Funds, and suggest that you found it helpful. A major tenent of that book is how important keeping investing expenses low is to net return. You might send him a link to diehards.org where he can find good discusssions of issues related to investing, the central theme of which tends to be Vanguard funds. Many of the posters there are heavy weights.

But you need to understand it's an uphill effort. I tried in vain to convince my dad that his Paine Webber advisor was not serving him well. When my dad died, I inherited his IRA and took over management of the trust. I moved them from PW to Vanguard, and both have done well, but I never could have convinced my dad to do that.
