You must not read my posts or you would know that I currently live in the best climatic zone in the world and thus have no need to retire elsewhere (at least not unless political developments necessitate it). Moderate summer temps with moderate levels of humidity. Moderate winter temps with moderate levels of humidity. Hills, mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, even desert all within 1-3 hours of driving. And nobody saying "y'all."


I agree with your contention about Oregon's climate. I'd love to visit Oregon and Washington if just to visit some of the fine micro breweries located in those states.

If it wasn't for the invention of air conditioning, many of those Yankees who moved to Texas and other deep southern states would be returning north. I couldn't imagine living in the deep south during the summer. I remember my friend, who grew up in Louisiana, telling me about the summer 90 degree F + 90% humidity days that seemed endless. The Texas summer's multiple 100 degrees F days would not appeal to me either.
