You should watch "Shipping Wars" on A&E. I was flipping by and got sucked in - it's rather humorous. The shippers - both amateur and professional - go to the web site USHIP (http://about.uship.com/) and bid on shipping jobs. Usually they have to move bulky and unique items across country. On the episodes I have seen, the shippers use dolly's and fork lifts to get the item's out of the sellers house or shop, so getting the item to the truck seems to be included in the shipping cost. I have no idea how the web site works (you have to know the destinaton by then), but maybe you can be on an episode of Shipping Wars!
