If you like living in Florida, why not become residents? There's no state income tax, but there is an "intangible tax" which applies mainly to stocks and bonds. It is not burdensome unless you have a very large portfolio. There's a reasonable threshold, and the max. rate is 1/2 % of your intangible assets. On top of that, the tax is scheduled for phase-out in a few years, so it is not something that would hold you back from relocating. JMHO...
