You'll find out from appraisersforum.com, appraiserUSA.com, and other sites that many out there are indeed there are pressured appraisers, but most are trying to make this an honest profession.

Thanks Duck, that's kinda what I was hoping for.

I didn't mean to give impression that all appraisers were unethical. But at least for me, the prospect of buying a home is indeed quite scary. It seems there are so many factors that go into buying a home -- with so many things that could go wrong and so many people that are perhaps not looking out for your best interests. Purchasing a house will certainly be the biggest purchasing decision in my life, and I don't want to screw it up.

At least now I can understand a little more about the pressures an appraiser faces and what to look for when dealing with an appraiser.
