Young boys attempt daredevil stunts in order to impress girls. "Look at how macho I am!" Look at how much testosterone is coursing through my body! Look at how square my jaw is! We are constantly in pursuit of appearance in order to impress other people.

I don't think it is that. I think boys are raised to expect attention.

I once drove a small boy to tears because I wouldn't obey his "Look at me!" He was maybe 3 years old. I am old enough to be his grandmother, so I don't think it was about getting his DNA into the next generation. I was only interested in my three daughters' activity.
