Your 401K plan has additional expenses for maintaining your account, sending your statements, answering your phone calls, collecting the money, making payments of benefits, etc. Those expenses are often negotiated between your 401K custodian and your employer. They can be paid various ways. Sometimes they are charged to employees accounts. Frequently they are paid by your employer.
