2.) It stays up all the time, or almost all the time. With Windows 95, applications crash several
times a day (even applications written by Microsoft, such as Access, Excel, Word, Microsoft
Explorer), and I get the Blue Screen of Death several times a week. I get the BSOD even when
the machine is just sitting there doing nothing.

I think you should test your Windows PC for some hardware fault or reinstall the Windows software. Windows 95 has not crashed once since I bought my latest PC almost a year ago. The most unstable element on my computer is Netscape Navigator which produces a GPF a few times a week. Otherwise the machine is rock solid.
And don't presume I'm a Microsoft bigot. I manage a Unix System Administration group for a living, and Windows NT is The Enemy.
