I currently have a 401K with a fortune 500 company and have started receiving distributions. Their distribution center will divide the balance by the years I am expected to live and then distribute the result to me each year. This scenario will ply out until I reach my "expected life span" and the 401K has a zero balance. If I want all or a greater part of the 401K distributed now, is that possible, or does it depend on the company, the plan, or tax laws? If I can get full distribution, can I avoid taxes by rolling over the balance into an IRA?
