Because you're in the K's looking for something by William Kienzle and you find an irresistable title "The Revolt of Gunner Asch" by Hans Helmut Kirst. The view from the German side of WWII was fascinating. He also wrote Night of the Generals which was made into a movie starring Peter O'Toole. Kirst is a very good writer and the Gunner Asch series is wonderful.
