I think that is the crux of the matter.

I suppose I railed more against corporations than anything else, but I have to question ANY kind of non-individual contributing to a politician.

I naturally like and appreciate some special interest groups -- we all have our favorite issues and causes -- but I don't think they should be filling politicians' coffers. I'd rather they just continue to exist and continue to share their research and opinions with politicians and the public, but leave it at that, with no $$ contributions.
