You can fund the IRA any time up to April 15, even if you have already filed. In case you're thinking of filing "with" the IRA and then not funding it, remember that the IRS will get a report from your IRA trustee documenting IRA contributions. It will take some time, but they will be matched to the tax return.

No, I have every intention and desire to fund the IRAs, I just wanted to clarify if they needed to be funded prior to filing my return.
