Cunningham raced at LeMans in 1954 with a stable of three cars. Two big iron hemi engines from the 300 series cars and the other with a 12 cylinder Ferrari engine. The F car broke one of the valve springs and they had a try at jinxing the thing so it ran on 11. That engine had what is called hairpin valve springs.

I know as I was there. Had a ticket for the pits. Not in them, but on top of them on a concrete cover. Wish I had kept the thing, but it got lost in the shuffle of school after returning to US etc.

24 hours is a long time to stay awake. Espresso to the rescue.
