I'll spare everyone the 50-page Homer's Analysis, but one thing stood out recently.

College football fans know of Bill Snyder's demeanor by now. He's not given to effusive emotion or high praise of anyone (Darren Sproles being a rare exception). In fact, he seems (to outsiders) downright depressing and bitter most of the time.

This past season, K-State's superstar QB, Ell Roberson, went out with a hand injury prompting some unused reserve QBs to come in. They were terrible. K-State went on a losing streak, and K-Staters across the country thought "crap, what are we going to do next season if these are the successors to the throne?" Last season's third-stringer was a freshman named Dylan Meier.

Over the off-season, he's not only worked his way into the starting role, but he's worked his way into high praise by Bill Snyder as well. In fact, Snyder is praising Dylan's athletic abilities, poise, attitude, work ethic, etc. like he rarely praises anyone. Could be we've got a diamond in the rough, and we didn't even know it. Time will tell ...

Is it kickoff yet?
