Thank you for your responses and I have quite a bit of reading to do. Also I need to decide how much time I can devote to investing - company research, bond research, listening to conference calls and calculating margins. I enjoy it, but I do have a day job! I am very competitive by nature, so I don't want to settle for 8% when I think I can get twice that with a little more hard work. For now, I might have to settle for that. For me the crucial thing is not risk but time. If I have the time I think I can minimize the risk.
