My observation is that a lot of people who think they will be happy with a long worklife change and discover that work becomes increasingly burdensome. It helps to have the savings to make a choice freely, rather than be stuck on the Cross Of Gold working for a living when you are sick of it.>>

I totally agree Mr. Pioneer! I've spent more hours than is probably healthy mulling over various scenarios and analyzing what makes me tick and the type of person I am. I'm sure the self-examination will continue right up to the year I do choose to make the leap to FIRE.
