Hello Hawkpie,

I was passing through this board for a different reason and saw your post. This response should definitely be viewed under the belief that it's "better late than never!"

As you know, the stocks selected by MDP come from a universe of stocks picked by some of our other services (Stock Advisor, Hidden Gems, Rule Breakers, Global Gains, etc.)

Ron Gross, the lead advisor for MDP, makes the final call based on a variety of factors which may not align with the investing goals/diversification needs/timing/risk profile of any individual on the team.

The primary way that the Fool shows its conviction for the stocks selected in MDP is by investing the company's money in every pick.

As CFO, I am keenly interested in how the teams manage the company's investable assets, and each of the teams managing real money meet with me each quarter to discuss their investment processes and performance.

It is not something either of us take lightly.

I do understand the viewpoint that seeing individuals purchase the stock further strengthens the message, but there are so many other factors that go into personal investment decisions that I woouldn't hold it against a MDP pick if there is no other disclosed ownership.

Lastly, apologies for the massive delay in responding. The private MDP message boards are probably a better forum for asking questions about that service.

On top of that, you'll be tapping into people who are much smarter and responsive!
