There's no one alive today with Carnegie's wealth. Yes, Gates supports a lot of charities, but I doubt even he could afford to build or maintain a library in every town.

So, reasonable citizens (hint: that's not you!) would agree that building and maintaining a library should be a function of the local government

That's one of the worst displays of "logic" that I have ever seen. It obviously isn't necessary for *one* person to finance libraries in every town.

If this is what passes for "logic" in your world, I guess I will cut my losses here and now. It's simply not worth the annoyance.
