Learning to Invest / Reading Financial Statements

A relative newbie here so I'm looking for guidance. I've read a couple of articles recently that noted a stock was trading at "X times it's free cash flow" and long term growth estimated at X%. My question is how are these ratios determined and/or where would I look to find this information? Thanks!
