Other item would consider - how many clients will it take to "break even"?

Here are my estimated costs:

Up front Costs:
PTIN number: $65
Exam: $116
Wiley Review Book: $50
Study & Exam Time: 24hr

Continuing Costs
PTIN number $64
CE Study Time 15hr

So, it would probably be possible to "break even" on as few as 2 clients. However, that would mean I'd be studying and working for nothing.

It's the continuing education time that will probably discourage the smaller tax preparation businesses.
