Meaning of recommend button.

I seem to use it somewhat differently from others, though perhaps I am not alone.

I do not usually mean "I agree" though I often do agree. But sometimes I will recommend a post I disagree with if it is well thought out and interesting and I think others should read it, whether I agree with it or not. And if it gets "a prize" as a result (partly) of my recommendation, that is OK, as it would, in my estimation, improve the quality of the discussion whether or not I agreed with it.
