It's a bit heavy going compared to the more popular "popular" diet books. That's how it roll with stuff that's valid.

That reflects the writer, not the content. The point of writing effectively is to make "valid stuff" clear and accessible and fluid reading while fully retaining accuracy.

As an aside....
The book on caring for one's diabetes that I had mentioned earlier on, by Dr. Alexa Fleckenstein, is being sold directly by the publisher, Rodale Press, I discovered. What's horrifying though is the ad they have. It's embarrassing, and makes Dr. Fleckenstein's book sound like the latest piece of wild hype -- which is exactly what it is NOT. I emailed that ad to her when I saw it last week, and she went through the roof. She shot off angry letters to her editor, and to her agent about the nature of this ad campaign. I don't think she's heard back from them yet. Though she doesn't expect anything to change.
