I am looking for information on how to deal with excess Roth contributions that are more than the contribution limit for the year. Publication 590 is very terse and doesn't give a lot of details. Particularly, I am confused about the due date for removing the contribution, how to calculate the earnings, and the due date for paying taxes on the earnings. How are the due dates affected if I file for an extension? There are probably other things I haven't even realized I don't understand. Can anyone point me to some more information?
