The Journal, Science, has an article in its 12 May 2017 edition that describes a new approach to DNA sequencing, one that claims to "read the bases in a DNA strand as it threads through a nonometer-sized pore."The description of how this process works and what it might be able to accomplish suggests that, in the not too distant future, Ilumina's technology will be out of date. The company, an outfit called Oxford Nanopore Technologies, looks like it may need to be taken seriously.

Is there anyone in Fooldom who knows enough to be able to tell whether this company is a threat to Ilumina's continued relevance ?
